New year, new Creative Director. Adrian Appiolaza, the Buenos Aires-born designer, was announced by the house as its new creative chief following the untimely death of Davide Renne.
Throughout his career Appiolaza worked extensively in Europe and managed to build an impressive track record. The Argentinian designer worked with some of what can be only called the biggest and best houses in modern fashion. Beside others, some of his most recent work includes a direction of RTW Design at Loewe and Chloé (under both, Phoebe Philo and Clare Waight Keller). He also worked for Louis Vuitton with Marc Jacobs and at Miu Miu under the one and only Miuccia Prada.
Adrian Appiolaza: a lifelong fashion enthusiast
Adrian Appiolaza has always had a soft spot for fashion and design. We already know that has he got a bunch of impressive names on his resume, but what you might not know is that he has been an enthusiastic collector of designer fashion from a very early age – including vintage Moschino. This is actually what prompt him to move to the U.K. and pursue a career in fashion.
And well will he make his Moschino debut you might ask? Well, we will get the first taste of his creativity later this month already. That will be on 22 February during Milan Fashion Week to be exact. Having said that, although we have no doubts of his talent, we dare to say it will take longer for his creativity to fully flourish under the house’s name.
