Is bob-cut making a comeback? Definitely seems like it in the Bieber household. One of the most followed IT girls of today, Hailey Bieber, was recently spotted rocking a new, shorter hairstyle. Hailey is notoriously known of always being on top of trends and never missing when it comes to street-style. Does this apply to her as as well though?
She already shocked the world (give or take) when dying her hair from her then-signature blonde back to brown. This move set off a ‘trend’ of women coming back to their natural hair colour. And to be quite frank, we were all here for it.
Now let’s get back to the actual bob-cut. A few years back bob-cuts were THE ultimate haircut. From the Kardashian/Jenners, to Lucy Hale, Taylor Swift and Beyoncé. The Hollywood went crazy for this hairstyle and the world followed. Now let’s have a look at some pros & cons of this hairstyle.
CONS:
(let’s start with cons so we end it on a good note afterwards)
High maintenance
Although this seems like a very convenient hairstyle, in majority of cases this hairstyle required high level of maintenance to keep looking good. This can then become not only time consuming but also costly.
Difficult during exercising
This depends on the length you’re going for but majority of bob-cuts are very difficult, if not impossible, to tie up when exercising. You need to either use tons of hair pins or just keep your hair down, which can become quite uncomfortable.
Very easy to miss
Now this one is very subjective but also very important to keep in mind. Before making such a drastic change to your hairstyle, you should really discuss the exact length and shape of this haircut with your hair stylist. We all had that moment when we saw a picture of a celebrity and showed it to our hairstylists wanting them to do exactly the same thing. However, please keep in mind haircuts (in general) have to suit your face. And especially with such statement ones, like the bob-cut, this is absolutely necessary. Otherwise you’ll be leaving the salon looking like Lord Farquaad…and that’s definitely not a vibe.
PROS:
Hair health
It’s no secret the best think you can do to your hair to keep it healthy is to cut it regularly. Which is exactly what you have to do if you want to upkeep a bob-cut. Therefore it’s no rocket science that your hair health will significantly improve if you decide to go for a bob-cut.
Extra volume
This is based on the laws of gravity to be honest. The shorter you hair is the lighter it gets. Thanks to that your hair is then not being pulled down as much and looks fuller and more ‘lifted’ by the roots. Sounds very much like a physics lesson but that’s pretty much the whole reasoning behind it. So if you struggle with volume, this might be a perfect solution for your.
Youthful
Last but not least, it’s no secret bob-cuts have the power to make you look younger. Bobs usually soften your face, especially when adding fringe or face framing layers on top. That being said, this might be very subjective as well, so once again, please discuss this with your hairstylist before hand. But in majority of cases a bob-cut will make you age like Benjamin Button.
