Cherry red: the true leader of autumnal fashion in 2023

You must have been living under a rock if you haven’t heard about the cherry red obsession this autumn. Not only it is the IT colour of the season, it has completely taken over social media and runways (yes, we are all thinking Gucci), making its way to our wardrobes. Yes, we know what you think, that there’s always “a colour of the season” and that this comes as no surprise. And yes, you are completely right. However, there is something different about cherry red. This rich, autumnal shade of red made its way not only to our wardrobes, but also to our makeup routines, manicure & pedicure choices and even interior design. Its versatility really plays a big role in how quickly cherry red gained popularity among everyone. Not only that but also the fact that reds are the ultimate classics, we don’t see this colour to be going out of style anytime soon.

Gucci holding the ‘trend-setter’ crown

It is fair to say, Gucci were pretty much the ones who started this trend. During the Milan Fashion Week in September, Sabato De Sarno mastered the perfect portrayal of rich darker cherry red colour, blessing us with beautiful fashion pieces. And to think this was his debut as the house’s creative director. That’s what we call a power move.

And what to actually imagine under the term ‘cherry red’? Well, that’s the beauty of this colour, there is no one definition. It ranges from rich almost blood red to darker tones close to burgundy. But no purple undertones, that is the key.
