The fashion world was left in utter shock once again following Moschino’s announcement of the untimely death of its new creative director – Davide Renne. The Italian designer was appointed only in October, filling the shoes of Jeremy Scott, who left the house early this year after almost two decades of service. Renne was due to unveil his first collection with Moschino early next year at the Milan Fashion Week in February.
from Alessandro Dell’Acqua and Gucci to Moschino
Before his appointment to Moschino, Renne worked twenty years for the house of Gucci. There he managed to work himself up to the position of the head designer of women’s ready-to-wear. Prior to Gucci, Davide Renne worked for Alessandro Dell’Acqua, where his career began.
“Davide assumed the role of creative director only a few days ago, on November 1, 2023,” said Massimo Ferretti, the executive chairman of Aeffe. “There are no words to describe the immeasurable pain we are experiencing at this dramatic time. Davide joined us just a few days ago when a sudden illness ended his young life too soon. We still can’t believe it.”
“Even though he was only with us for a very short time, Davide was able to immediately make himself loved and respected,” Ferretti said. “Our deepest sympathies go to his family and friends.”
The designer died in Milan on Friday, 10 November, after a sudden illness. During his twenty-something-year-long career, Davide Renne made a name for himself and it is safe to say that it will not be forgotten.
