Yes. ‘Meet Khy’. That’s all it took for Kylie Jenner to take the internet by storm once again when announcing her new upcoming clothing line on Instagram. The 26-year-old reality star and beauty mogul is no stranger to running a business, but so far she kept her focus on the beauty sector. However, that is all about to change now. Having launched Kylie Cosmetics, the very brand that earned her her ‘billionaire’ status, Jenner is now following her sisters’ footsteps and expanding to the world of fashion. Yes, we know, she is already well established in the fashion world. But one thing is to attend fashion show and get dressed by designers, and quite another is to be the one who makes the clothes. Although the question here is, will it actually be her designing her garnets? Well, that is up to everyone individually to make an opinion on that.
And now to the actual announcement itself. Kylie shared a post wearing a black leather trench coat with high collar, cinched waist, and oversized shoulders. She paired it with red pumps a simply captioned it ‘meet Khy’. Even though it is very early to judge an upcoming brand based upon one fit, it was impossible not to notice the undeniable resemblance to Balenciaga or Bottega Veneta. We also cannot help but wonder, was this the plan all along? To take advantage of Balenciaga’s downfall and bring people similar looks without the ‘scandal’ tag? Who knows.
Walking in her sisters’ footsteps?
So how will this go for Kylie? Rumor has it that in July, Kylie was working with Emma and Jens Grede on a fashion line. Yes, the same Jens Grede that also work with both Kim, Khloé and Kris on their businesses. Although we would expect her to lean more towards Kim’s footsteps, considering the success SKIMS has become, her announcement post suggests otherwise. From the sneak peek it seems she shifts her focus to luxurious everyday wear. So compared to her sisters’ clothing lines, this one seems to be closer to Khloe’s Good American in nature so far. But it is very soon to judge (unless she posts another sneak peek soon). With the information we have so far, all we can do right now is wait and see what happens next. And whether the name ‘Kylie Jenner’ actually makes its way among fashion designers.
