Controversies aside, Schiaparelli’s show definitely turned heads. From Doja Cat‘s all red Swarovski crystal outfit, to Kylie Jenner twinning with Irina Shayk. This show managed to turn the population into two camps. One that loved the show and found it futuristic and one that found it out of touch and claimed it promotes animal cruelty. Whether you’re team one or team two, there’s no doubt Schiaparelli definitely understood the assignment when it comes to kicking off the 2023 Paris Fashion Week.
a WILD start to this year’s Paris Fashion Week
According to various sources, Kylie’s outfit has been also approved by PETA, (an organisation focused on exposes animals suffering in laboratories, in the food industry, in the clothing trade, and in the entertainment industry). Kylie also confirmed several times that no animals were harmed while making the outfit. The same was claimed by the fashion house regarding their new collection. That being said, many still have issues with the message being sent. There’s claims, that whether real or not, it is still a promotion of animal cruelty and hunting culture.
Looking at the new collection in general, gold, white and black tones dominated the runway. The main focus was put on the upper part of the designs. Over sized cropped boxy cuts, wide shoulders and a variety of different patterns and materials were incorporated opposite plain slim bottoms. Have a look at the entire collection here.
It goes without saying that not all of these looks are everybody’s cup of tea. They are very controversial and raise many questions. Whether you’re a fan or not, that’s completely up to you, but there’s no doubt Schiaparelli outdone themselves. According to our predictions, it is safe to say we will be seeing a lot of Schiaparelli’s looks on the red carpets this year.
