Guard your loins, it is linen season.
As we stepped into May, there is only one thing on our minds – summer. Well technically a couple of things, ice coffee, holidays, afterwork drinks, and last, but definitely not least, summer fashion. Yes, summer fashion is something we could not wait for. Flowy dresses, pop of colours (did anyone say butter yellow) and our personal favourite: linen. Yes, summer is the so called linen season. And for many reasons this versatile, airy fabric is, hands down, the perfect choice for the season.
‘linen: a must have in every ‘quiet luxury’ wardrobe’
It is lightweight, moisture-wicking, breathable, and making it ideal for staying cool and comfortable in hot, humid conditions. Not to mention linen is incredibly chic. So for all our quiet luxury girlies, this is an absolute mush have in your wardrobes.
And why are we praising it so much? It all comes down to a couple of bullet points.
- Linen fibers are naturally looser and more open in weave compared to other fabrics like cotton, allowing more airflow and keeping your body cool.
- Linen absorbs sweat quickly and dries fast, so it doesn’t cling to your body or make you feel damp.
- It feels light on the skin and doesn’t trap heat, making it ideal for hot days.
- Linen resists bacteria and allergens, making it a good option for sensitive skin in summer when sweating increases.
- Last but not least, it is made from flax, which is a low-impact crop, and even though it starts off crisp, it softens with wear and washing. Which means, it often lasts you for years.
