LINEN: your best friend in summer and why to love it

There is no fabric more desirable in summer fashion than linen. Whether you live in Scandinavia or the Middle East, linen is truly desired and sought after year after year during hot summer months. So let’s access this in a bit more detail, shall we.

Number one, it is one of the most breathable fabrics on the market. Even though it is similar to cotton, this fabric is more preferable due to its breathability. From the technical point of view, it is made from fibers derived from the stems of the flax plant. Cotton, on the other hand, it derived from the bolls that grow around cotton seeds. That is what makes linen clothes so highly desirable in summer months. Or in hot and humid climates in general.

Number two, it is very lightweight, easy to pack, and literally feels like you are wearing nothing. Also due to its light weight, it easily adapts to your body shape and therefore, suites literally everyone.

Number three, it is chic. Linen is often connected with elegance and high class. The material is often used, or has the power, to elevate otherwise quite ordinary pieces and give it that ‘quiet luxury’ feel.

And lastly, it is versatile. One pair of linen trousers can be used for office outfits, casual dates, running errands or incorporated into your festival outfits. A linen shirt, for instance is perfect for work meetings, dinner dates but also as a cover up over your bikini. The cost per wear is next to nothing and it will become a staple piece in your wardrobe.

So there you have it – breathable, lightweight, chic and versatile. What more is there to want during in hot summer months. After all, as Domenico Dolce once said:

“My summer time tip is to wear shorts and light shirts; everything in summery fabrics such as linen and cotton. And don’t think about work.”
